Date rules and limits

Date difference is calculated as “end date − start date” and counts the date boundaries crossed. The result is negative when the end date is earlier. The inclusive date count is the absolute difference plus one, so the same date has a difference of 0 and an inclusive count of 1.

Adding or subtracting days moves across consecutive calendar dates: positive numbers move forward, negative numbers move back, and 0 keeps the base date. The calculator uses the extended Gregorian calendar and works with dates only; it does not use time, your device time zone, or daylight saving time.

Supported dates run from 0001-01-01 through 9999-12-31. Year 0000, other calendars, workdays, public holidays, and adding months or years are not supported. Your dates are calculated only in your browser; they are not sent or stored, and this tool does not track your activity.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between date difference and inclusive count?

Date difference counts the date boundaries crossed. Inclusive count includes both the start and end date, so it is the absolute difference plus one.

Why can the same date show 0 days and 1 day?

The same date crosses no date boundary, so its difference is 0. Counting that date as both the start and end gives an inclusive count of 1.

Does the calculator exclude weekends or public holidays?

No. It counts consecutive Gregorian calendar dates and does not include workday or local holiday data.

Can daylight saving time or my time zone change the answer?

No. This calculator works with dates, not times or time zones. It does not convert dates to hours or assume that every day has a fixed number of hours.

Which dates are supported? Can I use lunar dates?

It supports extended Gregorian dates from 0001-01-01 through 9999-12-31. Year 0000 and other calendars, including lunar calendars, are not supported.

Are my dates sent, saved, or tracked?

Your dates are calculated only in your browser. They are not sent or stored, and this tool does not track your activity. Clear the form or reload the page to remove the current entries.

Can I rely on this for a legal deadline or medical date?

This calculator does not determine legal, medical, or other purpose-specific rules. For an important decision, confirm the applicable rules and trusted source data.
